January 2015

Greta has come to us from one of the local shelters.  She was found with a wire around her neck upon pick up.

Greta is a little shy of strangers in the beginning, but she warms up very quickly. She loves all people and will turn herself inside out for some cuddle time and attention.

Currently, Greta is in our kennels as she came into care in heat, and is waiting for her spay appointment. Because of this, we haven't tested her at any great length with other dogs, though she has shown that she doesn't overly love their company at the moment...

It would also appear that Greta has been an outside dog her whole life. We would love to find Greta a foster home where she can be inside and learn the ropes of what that entails. She may not be house trained, so someone up for the job would be ideal. It is through no fault of her own that she doesn't have these skills...
Greta needs a safe place to hang out, preferably with no other pets, until we can get her spayed and then assess her at length.

If you can help us to further help Greta, please email us at GSDRescue@shaw.ca for an application.

November 2015

Well, Miss Greta has had quite the adventures these last several months and we have learned a great deal about her.
First and foremost, she has been spayed, and is more than ready for her new people to come and find her!

Greta is the sweetest and most fun girl in the world! She absolutley LOVES people of all sizes and will turn herself inside out to please you.
She has the funniest sense of humor and always waits to see your reaction to her antics :)
Sadly, Greta hates everything except for people and there is not much chance of her changing her mind about that either.  She wants to be the only animal in the home, and this is how it should be for Greta.
She was in a foster home for a few months over the summer, and they loved her. If it was not for her refusal to get along with other dogs, they would have adopted her as she was doing really well with her house training.
Unfortunately, Greta had an altercation with a small dog and she was returned back to our care that same night.

We feel horrible for Greta as she is back in the kennels, and she is lonely most of the time. Our volunteers are so awesome, and everyone tries to make sure that Greta gets out and get exercise and attention every day.  But that still isn't the same as a home and company throughout the day.

Greta needs a home of her own, or at the very least, a foster home that understands her and will stand by her.

She is not bred very well and has a wobbly hind end, so there will be no hiking up the mountains with her. She isn't a dog that needs a tonne of exercise. She would be happy to just lay at your feet and have a conversation with you.
Currently, she is enrolled in swimming sessions with K9H2o and she is loving it! It's SO good for her as well as it strengthens the muscles in her back legs.

If you have a fenced yard, no other animals in your home and a heart big enough to accept Greta as she is, please consider opening your home for her this Christmas.
