On top of all that, poor Meg's mouth is a mess. Her teeth are horrible and she will for sure require some extractions along the front. The back don't look very good either, but we're hopeful that they will not be too bad.

Both her ears seem to be infected, as well as her eyes. They are very raw and very sore.

We've started to treat both of these, and Meg will go into our vet on Wednesday for a complete blood panel, a check over and dental surgery. It appears she has a mass on her chest as well, which could just be fatty tissue, but we'll get that checked out as well.

Meg is just a complete love. She is terrific with all the dogs - even if she does think that they are beneath her. ;)

She tends to hang out with Shylo a bit. So we've created a senior's section for the two of them. :) Meg would be just as happy being with another easy going dog as she would being on her own and having your undivided attention.

There have been many different opinions on what breed of dog Meg is. We think she is likely a bearded collie with maybe some Bouvier or something similar.  A GSD for sure, she is not. lol

Whatever mix she is, Meg is one very lucky girl. Although Meg has no idea, she was very nearly put down in one of the local shelters. A group of committed people struggled very hard to find her, and some of her shelter mates, safety into various rescues so that their lives could be spared.

Meg caught our eye, and we offered to take her into our care.

She is a sweet old girl, with a mind of her own. Strong willed, comical and marches to her own drummer. haha.

The picture to the left is of Meg in the pound. She was one big stinky mess! Full of mats that were rock hard and pulling all over her body.

Meg has a lot of people to thank for helping get this second chance.

Sam from Markeydas Pet Grooming saw her and pulled her out of the pound to groom her in hopes of making her more presentable for adoption. Lucky for Meg, two very special ladies, Jackie and Theresa, were trying hard for her and Meg never had to go back to the pound to face the unknown! They brought her directly to us from Sam's shop.

We're happy to help Meg, and would like to thank everyone that had a part in giving her a second chance at life!

Meg arrived in our care on the evening of January 7th. At the moment, she looks like a very big Maltese! haha! But she is soooooo glad to be clean and free of all those heavy mats that were pulling at her skin all over her body.

She smells great now, and is certainly more comfortable. Though she does seem a little out of sorts losing all her bangs. It's probably been a long time since she could actually see.

Meg is under weight and we're working on that too. She LOVES the raw diet and has taken to it like it's candy. As much as she loves it, she is ever patient, always waiting for her turn.

It will be wonderful to see Meg's coat grow back in and how beautiful she will be!

Thank you again, to everyone that had a hand in helping this very sweet girl!

January 13th

Meg was seen by our vet this afternoon, and was found to have a raging urinary tract infection, on top of her infected eyes and ears. She must be in a significant amount of pain, although you would never know it as she never lets it show. It's likely that she has been living with it for so long that she has gotten used to the pain and discomfort.

Luckily, the mass on Meg's chest has turned out to be fatty tissue and not a concern at this time.  We've had her blood work done and everything came back fairly normal. Once Meg gains her strength and health back a bit, we will go forward with her dental at that time.

Luck has smiled again on Meg, and today after her vet appointment, she was moved into foster care in Burnaby. Thank you Mondee & family for once again opening your home to a GSRBC dog! Meg is a great fit into this home, and if all goes well, after her dental is done, we expect that Meg will have found her forever home here with Mondee, her family and her soon to be new canine brother! We couldn't hope for a better home for our sweet girl and are looking forward to seeing her blossom!

Through our sponsorship program, Meg is being sponsored by:

**We feed a raw diet to our rescues. This cuts down on the amount of medical attention they need, as well as makes them all around healthier. The  cost to feed one dog for one month is roughly 130.00. Sponsorships go towards food, vet care, toys and housing.

**If you are able to buy one months worth for one dog, it would greatly lessen the load. Please specify which dog it is that you would like to feed, and we will show your pledge on each dog's page. This special sponsorship is called "Foster Partner in Care" and simply means that you are part of the foster program for the dog of your choice. One home supplies the shelter, and the other supplies the food. Many people want to help, but have no room in their homes to do so. This is the perfect way to be involved with the animal of your choice and be updated regularly on their care and well being. It's a win-win for everyone, especially the dogs!
