Kia was part of an SPCA seizure. Her previous home had really been unkind to this sweet little girl.

The shelter called us and asked for assistance, and we brought Kia down to our main foster home.

Kia's foster mom says that she must have been a show dog in her past life. She has the most wonderful house manners that you can imagine.
Here are a few things that she really enjoys - long walks or even jogs, lying on the couch watching TV, and playing with her foster brothers.
If you are looking for that special companion who just wants to be your best friend, here she is.

All she want is love, love, love.

She'd be GREAT at tracking, and is super smart and wants to learn about just everything! Sometimes she's a little shy, but hey, my her has really changed recently!

Kia was adopted March 13th 2005 and we are lucky enough to get constant updates on this special girl!

August 17th 2006 update:

Hi Kelly,

Kia completed session two of agility last night. I am so amazed at how she has over come so many obstacles from her past. She is going over the much smaller than normal dog walk. Over jumps, through the tunnel ( one which had a partial chute covering it). She is doing some nice sit stays, while other dogs are running around. She is still not big on toys, but of course will work for steak tidbits and LOTS of praise. She only showed interest in one other dog (barking and a small amount of pulling towards it). And to top off the evening, we were leaving the training, and got a flat!! I had my friend with her Shepherd puppy(1 year old) had to tie them away from the car but in sight. Kia sat and then laid down and did not make a peep!! Damon was going nuts as he hates to be more than five feet from his "Mom". I am so very proud proud proud of my girl!! I can not thank you enough for bringing her into my life by opening your heart!! Thank you Kelly, for Kia is my rock, inspiration and the pride of my life!! Keep up the AWESOME work.

It is with a saddened and heavy heart, that I tell you that Kia went to Rainbow Bridge today. The lymphoma caused extreme difficulty in Kia's breathing. Kia will be missed by Kellie ( Mom) Pete (Dad) Mr. Winslow fur brother and her fur sister Korra.

Kia lived only 2.5 years with us. She lived a full life and was loved by many.

RIP my angel, run free and feel the wind in your face.
