Lucky, so far, has been anything but lucky.

She has been given up at least twice that we know of, and this last time, she found herself at the pound.
She waited and waited for her family to come for her, but they never did. Finally, time ran out and "Lucky" was facing euthanasia.

We happened to be in that same shelter to see another dog, and when they told us Lucky's story and the fate that awaited her, we couldn't' stand it, we had to help her.
There really wasn't any space in our program for Lucky. Our fosters were full to the rafters. We did the only thing that we could do for this girl, we put her in boarding. .
This bought Lucky some time, but really, it is just trading one cage for another, while we waited and hoped that a family will come along and find her.

*We* knew they were out there, but sitting in her run, day after day, Lucky did not.
She is a sweet girl, and very much worth the effort. We are happy to report that someone else thought so too, and came out to meet Lucky. They scooped her up and gave her a home where she will always have love and safety.

Lucky got more than lucky after all and was adopted October 23rd 2005

Update:

Just letting you know that Lucky is doing fabulously.  She has settled in so well.  She never leaves our side, she plays well with the other dogs in the neighborhood and greets our friends with so much love and wiggling.  We couldn’t have asked for anything more.  I think she’s even lost a pound or two.  I will send pictures soon.
