Tonka was an owner surrender. Her people were moving and picked a location that they could not bring this family member with them. Far too often people make these heartless choices, and the most innocent are always the ones that pay the price. Tonka did nothing to deserve to lose the only home she had ever known, and had been in since she was a mere 3 months old. But luck smiled on this sweet girl, and we just happened to have an approved home looking for a girl just like her. It was the saddest of days when we met this family at the ferry terminal and they handed her over to us and walked away. Poor Tonka was terribly distraught to see her family leaving without her. But leave they did, without a backward glance. Into the loving arms of Alice and Doug she went, and after a few nights of missing her previous family, Tonka, now Kellie, has never looked back.

We have just returned from the vet visit. Tonka, now Kellie has a
clean bill of health except for an ear infection which we now have
ointment for, and some fleas (Advantage 100).
