We're told Bobby is probably close to 12 years old, but he's in good shape with some time and a lot of love left to give.

Bobby is a gentle soul who gets on with other dogs well. He walks nicely on a leash, doesn't have any bad habits that we know of and is quiet and gentle.

One of the most heartbreaking parts of our 'job' is seeing the number of senior dogs abandoned in shelters. Their odds of being adopted from the shelter to live out the rest of their life in a warm home are pretty low. But that's where we come in!

Buddy is looking for a unique owner - one that will love this senior boy and give him  a fairy tale ending for the time that he has left.

Look in those eyes...do you see the questioning and hope coming through?  We couldn't look away, even though we know that Bobby is a senior and likely will stay in care for many months. Sometimes we just have to say yes, even when the checking account is low and the bills are high. No one cared about Bobby, but we do.

GSRBC wants Bobby to have the best home possible, and we would like to see him live out his remaining time laying in front of a fire and being valued for the special soul that he is, instead of laying on a cold cement floor of the shelter while his joints are aching and watching adopters pass him by.

Thank you to all of Bobby's Sponsors:

A kind and wonderful family stepped forward to foster Bobby. He was brought down from Quesnel on September 14th, and 5 days later, his foster home knew that he belonged with them forever. His adoption was completed, and Bobby remains a valued member of their family.

Bobby's new home writes:

"I'm sure the people at the shelter described Bobby as best they could - but I wouldn't call him a gentle soul who wants to spend his remaining days sleeping in front of a fire.  I would call him a happy, affectionate dog who LOVES walks and likes to chase squirrels.  Yes, he is gentle and sweet and less energetic than a young dog, but he is also a fun dog with personality.  I am really enjoying walking the two of them together and have received comments on what beautiful dogs I have.  They really make a nice pair.  I make a point of telling people that one of my beautiful dogs is a rescue dog that was saved from a death sentence.  Ironic, isn't it, how he could sit and rot in that shelter because "nobody" wants an old dog, but when he's all cleaned up and prancing on a leash, people think he's beautiful. "

May 2007:

Bobby has been with us for almost eight months now and is the sweetest, most loving dog imaginable.  He follows me everywhere and leans right in for hugs.
Bobby came to us with some allergy problems that caused flaky, itchy skin and loose stools.   We followed various recommendations from the vets and tried several high quality kibbles, including one designed to be hypoallergenic.  They helped, but we still weren't satisfied, so we decided to try a raw food diet.  Not only is it much simpler to feed than I expected (just defrost and serve) but we saw an immediate improvement in his health.  Bobby's skin is much better and his stools...well, let's just say they're easier to scoop.
We are so glad we didn't let Bobby's age keep us from adopting him.  When you see him run you can tell this boy is full of life!
