I thought I should give you an update on my new home.

I'm having a nice time here, even though its only been 4 days I feel like I'm really fitting in.  I was a bit sad and tired at first you know, the shelter was scary, my whole life changed so quickly I didn't know which way was up.  But my new parents are sooo nice to me and talk to me and pet me all the time, I'm feeling really special.  My doggie sisters have been GREAT, even big Winnie, Queen of the Universe, thinks I'm ok now.

I've been working hard at training my new people to my routine. I've taught them that my goofy barking and bouncing means 'lets go for a walk' and arf arf and foot stomping at 4:30 means DINNER TIME!!! They catch on pretty quick! I love my new food and eat it with gusto but take my treats very gently.

I play soccer with my sisters, and there's no arguing. I'm really good on the leash compared to Winnie... ha ha!!  I greet all the dogs and people we meet really nicely.  I know sit, down, rollover, speak (my favorite) and beg (Mom doesn't like that one).  I'm still learning my new name and I need to work on 'come', so for that reason I'm not allowed off leash yet.

I do have a few issues but geez don't we all???  I snore.  I don't kiss.  I eat bumble bees.  I howl with the sirens.  I don't really like the rain.  And you know that chunk of lip I'm missing, well sometimes it makes me look like I'm doing the grrrrr thing BUT I'M NOT!!!

Now about my age, I'm no laid back 8 year old senior!!  These people can't believe I'm that old! They think I'm fibbing!!  Even people I meet when I'm out walking don't believe it.  I'm just a busy kinda guy, always up for anything, no afternoon nap for me!
My new family has a few pictures they've sent. It's hard to get a good picture of me cuz I go weird when they point the camera at me and I run towards it...just can't help myself!!!

Jake.....formerly known as Dudley

May 5th 2006

Jake has been with us for almost a month now and he's a really sweet easy going guy.  Jake is always smiling and wagging his tail, he's just happy to be included in your day.  He's a good mix of energy and calmness, he likes to walk but is just as happy to lay on the deck and read a book with you.  He has passed potty 101 with flying colors.  He rarely barks, he might have the occasional chat with the mailman and he will definitely tell you to hurry up if you're too slow getting his dinner ready!  He has not been destructive when left at home  He's just a big lovable lug that  likes to be hugged and brushed and spend time with you.
He LOVED walking off leash and was really good about coming when called. He played lots of soccer and ate roasted weenies and cheese and pretzels, about as far from raw as you can get!!!  He was so sweet at bedtime, he'd lie there and watch me tuck the girls in and then he looked at me as if to say "what about me?", so I wrapped him in a wool blanket and he was asleep in about 3 seconds.
