Hero is a PB male GSD, about 4 years of age.

Magnificent, kind-hearted, and loyal are his most noticeable characteristics. He wants to be loved and appreciated for what he is: intelligent, calm, and eager to please friend of all, people and dogs (maybe cats also). He is recovering from being neutered and has adjusted quickly to our schedule. He would make a great companion, with many years to share with you.

Hero is a very sweet, loving, playful dog who is extremely happy to be living in a safe environment where he is valued and cared for. He returns the love 1000-fold every day and is definitely “all heart”. He is a playful, almost puppy-like dog with a great appetite for life (as well as food and treats). He is extremely devoted to his human and plays well with most other dogs.

He's haunted in some ways, but he is a complete love. He gets along very well with Chase and the other dog in his foster home. Chase and him are very bonded and do well together. Hero is in some ways still a puzzle to us.

He is loving and playful, but then will all of a sudden be reminded of something and will bolt to the window and try frantically to get out. In the yard he will play and play and play, and then all of a sudden panics and tries to climb the fence and get out. It takes him a while to settle when these spells happen, and we can't quite figure out what it is that is setting him off. Nothing is the same in the environment at each time. It's very troubling for him, and one can only guess at what is going through his mind, or what it is that he is trying to suddenly get away from. In those moments, he seems almost tortured within himself, but he is never aggressive and always seems to know his bounds. Hero is actually submissive to Chase, who is nothing but a young punk and a puppy still. Hero is respectful of the child in the home, and while he will show interest in the cat, he does not want to hurt it, rather he gets quite upset trying to figure out what it is. From experience, we think that Hero has been kept in a pen where he watched the world go by and it was his safe place.

He has got the best heart, and these big brown eyes that just look right into you. He's still searching and we're trying our best to give him what he is looking for. Hero will need a patient home that is vigilant about his panic episodes and will take precautions that he is not able to run off. he is never destructive and does not show any separation anxiety in the way of destructive behavior. It's all within himself.

He's a beautiful dog, there is no doubt, and for the most part is a happy go lucky fellow, but he will need extra understanding and patience to help him through.

While he knows some basic commands, but he could use a bit more training. He is a active dog who loves to play and explore the wonders of urban life. He would also thrive in a suburban or country environment. He wants everyone he meets to be his friend and is truly deserving of a loving forever home.

Hero was adopted on January 19th  2006
