Jerry is a very friendly, very affectionate and gentle boy whose tail never stops wagging! Poor Jerry has had a rough go of it. He's had 3 teeth removed, a root canal and work on a few other teeth. His gums were impacted with infection that had gone down into the bone. He was in a very real amount of pain. While Jerry has been in our care, we have learned that he is a very good boy! Jerry is no trouble at all. He gets along well with the other dogs and even likes the cats. He has good house manners and is able to be left alone at home with no problems. He sleeps well through the night, and is respectful of everyone's space. |

He does appear to be more comfortable around women than men. Someone in his past has not been kind to this boy. Although a little shy towards them, he does eventually open up. Jerry is a sweet fella that does best with a soft and gentle touch. January 20th ~ Adopted!
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know how I am doing. I'm more relaxed and settling in my new home pretty well now. I'm getting to know these new people and I love to be petted and cuddled. I try to let them know I am ready for some love by bumping their hand to let them know. My Mom gets confused though I think, because I also bump her hand when I have to go out. So when I am ready for love, she is opening the door and when I have to pee, she is squeezing me! Ha ha... I think I could really have some fun with this. I'm doing well with housetraining and haven't had accidents since the days after I first arrived. I was pretty scared back then and not too sure on what they wanted me to do. I was so nervous when I came, and so worried that someone would hurt me, that I flinched every time they tried to pet me. I was so, so hungry that I didn't want anyone near my food - especially when the cats were eyeing it up. I don't mind the cats at all now and I like being with Baylee. I love going for walks, but sometimes I do get car sick. As long as I don't eat within a couple hours of going out, I should be okay. I haven't quite got used to all the movement of the car. I'm not quite sure why these people keep calling me "Jerry", I guess they don't know my real name. I'm ignoring them and waiting for them to get it right! It doesn't matter what they call me really, because I never go far from them anyway. I try to follow them all over the house, but get awfully confused when one goes one way and the other goes the other way! Why can't they just stay still? I was looking for that special someone who would come and scoop me up and take me home. Someone who would be a little patient with me, talk softly to me, play with me and be my friend... I sure got it. Thanks everyone for helping me along my way! Update ~ November 14th 2008 Kelly it is with sadness that I have to tell you that Jerry got worse not better over the past two weeks. After the visit to the vet we were advised that it could be either Vestibule disease, a stroke or a tumor but we would have to wait and if it were Vestibule or stroke he would come round given time. We fed him, cleaned him up after he did his business where he lay on a bed in the kitchen, and cared for him. For two weeks he only managed small
amounts of food at a time and a lots of water. He regained the use of
his front legs after a week but not his back legs. Numerous open wounds
appeared that we cleansed and treated, He stopped drinking yesterday and
we took him to the vet where the prognosis was that it was a tumor and
with the wounds not responding he was going downhill very fast. After
more discussion with the vet we decided that he had suffered enough in
this life and we held him as he was euthanized. My only consolation is that he died
knowing we loved him. GSRBC sends our deepest condolences out to the Kenefick family. Thank you so much for taking Jerry into your hearts and home and loving him so well. Our hearts go out to you today.
