Lady is a happy and polite girl. She gets on with most dogs, in fact she really loves smaller dogs, but has had a few disagreements with another neighborhood female, who is more her size. She gets along well with bigger dogs who are polite and not pushy. She is a little too interested in cats and would likely be better off in a home that is feline free. She is excellent on leash, and has good manners. Lady is fully housetrained, quiet, polite and very gentle in taking treats. She does not mind being brushed or groomed and is even tolerant of having her ears cleaned from time to time. Lady is highly intelligent, very observant and a very good listener. She likes being around people but doesn't need to be right next to them - she's content just being nearby. Lady is spayed, up to date on her shots and in good health. She suffers from arthritis in her shoulder and will need a home with minimal stairs. Lady receives pain medication daily and this helps her to enjoy life to the fullest. While she is friendly with people of all sizes, we would prefer that she go to a home with no young children. At this point in her life, she deserves a little peace. November Update; Lady has found herself a new foster home in Chilliwack. Here, there is a smaller dog that Lady enjoys playing with. There is also the CAT of all CATS; and let's just say that this cat is not about to put up with anything from some dog with a gleam in her eye! We were actually a little more worried for Lady's safety at first. ha ha! While there will be an adjustment period for Lady and her new house-mates, we are confident that everything will turn out just fine for our girl. Here, Lady has everything she has hoped for. She has a beautiful big back yard that is just a few steps down from a nice wide wrap around deck. Perfect to snooze on when the weather is nice (which too bad it's been nothing but horrible!)

Lady is a beautiful 9 year old female, who is the very
essence of her name. She is quite the lady!
She is quite healthy in every way, though she does suffer from severe arthritis in her right elbow, this can be managed easily with pain medication. However, Lady is not a dog to go hiking with or playing soccer or any of those things that the young babes can do. Lady prefers to have a few walks a day and then she likes to have her naps. Lady has been with us for a few months now, and has been in foster care. Her foster Mom had thought that she would of liked to adopt Lady and keep her for herself, but has now realized that she can not give Lady what she so desperately wants and needs, and that is a home with minimal stairs, and a yard where she can just hang out and twitch her nose in the air. Lady has been fostered in a penthouse apartment, and while she does not complain, she spends many hours staring out the window longing to just be able to go out and suntan and have a nap in the fresh air. The few times that the elevator has been out, they have had quite a time taking the stairs up to the suite, and Lady paid a great price for it for days afterward. Lady also suffers greatly with car travel. She seems to do better in bigger vehicles like minivans and SUVs, but she is still a little upset during these times. Lots of short car trips is essential to get Lady past this small issue. We are happy to say, those are really Lady's only issues.
Lady had a visit with the vet today and it was discovered that she also suffers from arthritis in both elbows and both hips. She has severe spondylosis along her entire spine hip dysplacea on one side. In short, Lady is done with marathons for good. But our girl isn't ready to throw in the towel by any means! Lady enjoys a good game of tug o war, and dearly wants to rough play with her foster Dad. Someone forgot to tell her that she is a old girl and she needs to slow down. There is a lot that Lady can still do, and much she still wants to do. All in moderation, which is Lady's hardest obstacle to overcome. She still wants to be very active, and she is no hob-a-long, that is for sure. It is important that Lady does these things in small doses, as she does pay for it later if she is let to become too active. But she is now starting a better pain medication and she will be feeling much better in no time. Lady is showing signs of bonding deeply to her people already. In her new foster home, she lacks nothing that she needs or wants, except a family of her own. Please consider opening your heart and home to Lady and giving her a permanent home for the last part of her journey. |
