Lucky for us, or lucky for Riot, she called us. When we saw the pictures, we knew immediately who this dog was. You see, we had heard how life had gone for Riot, and we had been trying to find him for the last two years. He has weighed heavily on our minds. With tears in our eyes, our search was over. Riot was finally coming to us! His days of being homeless, of sleeping in bushes, eating out of dirty ashtrays, living with drunks... it was all over now. A memory. Riot is currently in boarding while we try to make space for him in one of our foster homes. He doesn't mind the boarding facility too much and has already made fast friends with one of the staff members there. Even so, we would like to see him get into a foster home as soon as possible so we can get a better idea on what Riot is all about. If you are interested in fostering, please see our foster page for more information. While we know without a doubt that Riot has not been abused physically, or even mentally, it is clear that his focus is not sharp anymore, and his calm demeanor is gone. Who knows what has happened in the last two years, but we know he can and will bounce back from this soon enough. For now, what he needs is a good grooming, some obedience training and a good diet. One he is in one of our foster homes, he will be able to get onto a raw diet, but for now, he is being fed a high quality kibble. |
Riot is a
beautiful boy, who has not had the best of luck so far in his life.
We met Riot 2 years ago, when he was at his full potential. Unfortunately, at the time, we had no room to take this sweet boy into our care, and through an array of circumstances, he was given away from home to home. We're unsure how many homes Riot landed in over the past two years, but we know at one point, he and his caregivers had no home at all. Such is Riot's way... he took it all in stride and continued to love and trust and accept his new world. He landed in his last home, by chance, with a caring person that wanted to help him. Unfortunately, she was unable to provide for Riot, and had heard about this "GSD Rescue"...

Riot is about 6 years old now. He is a large boy, likely around 80lbs. He is neutered, and gets along with other dogs. He showed some anxious behavior around cats, and would likely give chase if they ran. However, a good dog savvy cat that rules the roost would likely be just fine living with Riot. He rides well in the car, and is not much
of a barker. He is house trained, and is great with people of all ages,
though he can be a little exuberant at times, so should be watched
around small children so he doesn't knock them over.
Riot is in boarding at 20.00 per day. If you would like to help with Riot's expenses, please consider sponsoring him.
May 26th 2007 After 2½ months in boarding, Riot has finally been moved into foster care. His foster mom is already over the moon for this special boy, and soon we will be able to learn more about Riot in a home environment. Riot is currently being fostered in Port Moody.
June 2nd 2007 Well it didn't take long for Riot's foster mom to fall completely head over heels for our boy. Today, Riot was officially adopted! His long wait for a stable, loving home is over. Riot has been passed over to so many people in his life. Never truly having a home, never truly being taken care of and afforded real vet care, a good diet, a soft place to land, and loving arms to hold him. Riot is such a loving and special boy, and we are so, so glad that he will never have to move again. We only wish we could of got him and given him this opportunity sooner. Rest easy now Riot, and enjoy the good life. You've earned it, and this is your last stop. We promise.
