Tory's owners have been located and they have expressed no interest in claiming their girl. In fact, they told the shelter to euthanize her.

Thankfully, they were talked into releasing her instead, and Tory's life will not be cut short. She gets to live!

It is reported that Tory is especially sweet and loving and a very gentle girl. She is even gentle while the vet examined her and lifted and manipulated her leg.

Not even a growl came out of her.

Please help us to help this very special and deserving girl.

August 8th 2008 ~ Update

Once again, Anne has come along and saved the day and opened her heart and home to this very, very special and most deserving girl.

Tory met Anne and immediately gave her sweet little kisses, and leaned right into her from some love.

Then she was whisked away to Vancouver to continue her rehab and wait for that awesome home to come and find her.

After the next 4 weeks are up, GSRBC will have Tory's hip x-rayed again to see how everything is going and if indeed she did heal up as planned.

To see Tory, one could easily be led to believe that there is nothing at all wrong with this girl! She is full weight bearing on all 4 legs and would love to have a good romp and play with the other dogs. It's hard to keep a good dog down, and harder still to keep her activity level at a minimum, when you can see in her eyes that she very much wants to be included in all the fun.

Tory would make an excellent addition to any family. She is rock solid in her temperament and just so sweet and loving. There is not one thing that we can find to warn any potential adopter about her. They just don't get any more 'perfect' or easy than Tory...

Tory is a 1 and a half year old spayed female who urgently needs our help!

Poor Tory was hit by a car, and left for dead.

Some kind people found her and brought her to the pound. She has been seriously injured. Her femur is broken and it is likely she will have to lose her leg :(

Tory is currently under the care of the pound, and will be transferred into our care as soon as we can find a spot for her.

Surgery can not be done until early next week.

Tory needs a foster home immediately!

July 29th 2008 ~ Update

Tory has been taken into our main foster home, but she is still looking for a foster home, or ideally, a foster to adopt home, where she can have more one on one attention.

As it turns out, Tory will not have to lose her leg after all. Further x-rays have been taken and an orthopedic surgeon has taken a good look at Tory's case. Since Tory was not with our regular vet, we took her x-rays in to him to look over as well. Both agree that at this point, Tory does not need to lose her leg.  Instead, she is to have 4 - 6 weeks of crate rest and it is quite possible that the fractures in her femur will heal themselves as long as she is kept to limited activity.

Poor Tory, she is in a very active foster at the moment, and doesn't understand why she can't come out and enjoy all the fun. She has put up with it for the most part, but does cry and gets lonely.

Tory is a dream girl. She is easy and loving, and funny and silly. She is good with other dogs and loves kids, but would also do well as the only dog in the house. She is friendly and loves snuggling and being petted. She knows her name and responds well. She loves to be included in whatever you are doing. She will make someone an excellent “buddy” dog. She is intelligent and trainable.

Tory needs a good home with a loving family, who can show her how good life SHOULD be!

October 23rd 2009 ~ Update

We just received your “Happy Gotcha Card” today – thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.

Here are some shots of Tory’s Great Summer Adventure -- my sweet girl learned to swim this summer! (When we first got her, she was frightened of the gentle waves at our local beaches and after much coaxing and encouragement, she was swimming like a pro. I almost cried with joy watching her first swim.)

We had four separate summer holidays this summer and Tory came on each one and swam her heart out.

She’s doing great and has a rich life of activities and love.

Thanks again!

**We feed a raw diet to our rescues. This cuts down on the amount of medical attention they need, as well as makes them all around healthier. The  cost to feed Tory for one month is roughly 102.08

**If you are able to buy one months worth for one dog, it would greatly lessen the load. Please specify which dog it is that you would like to feed, and we will show your pledge on each dog's page. This special sponsorship is called "Foster Partner in Care" and simply means that you are part of the foster program for the dog of your choice. One home supplies the shelter, and the other supplies the food. Many people want to help, but have no room in their homes to do so. This is the perfect way to be involved with the animal of your choice and be updated regularly on their care and well being. It's a win-win for everyone, especially the dogs!
