Ruegger is a (almost) 3 year old PB neutered male.

Sadly, Ruegger has not been treated very well in his previous home, and our understanding is that he was surrendered to the pound by another family member when the abuse he suffered from the male of the household became very bad.

Because of this, Ruegger obviously does not trust all men, and we've been told that he was reactive with one of the male ACOs.

Here, Ruegger has been a very nice dog so far. He's got along well with all the dogs, and he spent a few nights in a temporary foster while he waited for transport to us, and they report he was fine with the male there too.

Ruegger is still coming out of his shell but he’s a very loving dog. He loves to snuggle on the couch and lay his head on your lap. He’s content to sit and have you rub his head. He loves affection and is taking full advantage all of there is to offer in his foster home.

Rueggar doesn’t play much yet with toys. We don’t think he’s ever had any before but he’s started to get involved more with the other dogs when they have their toys out. Ruegger will be completely devoted to his forever family and would make a fantastic companion for someone who is just looking for a friend to spend time with or as a new addition to the family. He would do well as an only dog or as a companion for an existing dog. Ruegger’s heart is so full of love regardless of his past life and is looking forward to starting over with a family who truly appreciates him.

Ruegger is very new to us (Sept 20th), and we'll give him this week to settle out and then assess him further.

Right now, he is suffering from ear infections in both ears, and what appears to be allergies. We're treating his ears, and will have him medically checked out early next week.

Welcome to GSRBC Ruegger!

After being briefly adopted, Reugger is coming back in our care. Sad situation for all, as this is a really great family and home, however Reugger just wasn't accepted by the resident male dog. After trying very hard, and bringing in a trainer to help, it's been decided that this just isn't going to work out and Reugger is once again looking for that special place in the world that was meant for him.

Reugger would do best in a home with a laid back dog or even no other dog at all. However, he would prefer a home where someone is around the majority of the day. Long hours on his own aren't the best match for this boy.

We're sad for Reugger that he has to move yet again, but we know his next home will be his final one!

If you are looking for a great boy to add to your family, please contact us for an application!

Reugger is settling into his foster home nicely and is on his best behavior while learning 'the ropes'. Zeeva is only too anxious to teach him the rules but they are playing together well.

At this time Reugger is still cautious. He listens carefully and is a very quick learner. He knows his basic obedience commands such as sit, down, finish, stay and recall. He walks well on leash and when off leash checks in often. If he is distracted by something or playing a bit too roughly, he is easily redirected.

Reugger greets new people easily and calmly. We are introducing him to as many sights, sounds and new situations as possible. When introduced properly to a new dog he is watchful but polite. Reugger seems to get along with most dogs and is particularly gentle with small ones. He especially enjoys wrestling or playing tug with an eager combatant.

Reugger is a good traveler and completely house and crate trained. His ear infections have cleared up and he is in good health. Reugger is a kind and patient boy who is looking to please his people. Although he has a ferocious bark he is a giant cuddle bug who would just like to sit in your lap. He loves to curl up with his humans.

Reugger needs a strong leader to help him understand what is expected of him. Someone who can spend the time necessary to build a trusting relationship and keep him active both physically and mentally would help Reugger become the best companion in the world. Reugger is patiently waiting for his perfect match.

Reuggar attended our last adoption day and as usual, was a hit with everyone. Check it out:

**We feed a raw diet to our rescues. This cuts down on the amount of medical attention they need, as well as makes them all around healthier. The  cost to feed one dog for one month is roughly 102.08

**If you are able to buy one months worth for one dog, it would greatly lessen the load. Please specify which dog it is that you would like to feed, and we will show your pledge on each dog's page. This special sponsorship is called "Foster Partner in Care" and simply means that you are part of the foster program for the dog of your choice. One home supplies the shelter, and the other supplies the food. Many people want to help, but have no room in their homes to do so. This is the perfect way to be involved with the animal of your choice and be updated regularly on their care and well being. It's a win-win for everyone, especially the dogs!
