August 21st ~ Update
Spade is coming along slowly but surely. He
is able to not react so aggressive to the other cats with positive
supervision and has been watching them from a distance. Although the
other cats do not trust him yet, he seems to be working hard at just
making friends.
Spade is very young I would not put him over 10th months. He is still a kitten and leaps about like one. He and the ferret have become friends and chase each other down the hall thundering around like goofs! Spade has taken to the people around and prefers to be with you than anywhere else. I suspect he has had some rough people in his life. When spade gets over stimulated sometimes even with pets he will nibble your hand and if you say no or pull you hand too fast he squints his eyes and crouches into a ball and freezes. He seems to think I am hit him. Once he is reassured that he is safe, he will stretch up cautiously towards your hand. Poor kitty, he really has a nice temperament and really just wants to play. I think Spade will come around nicely given some more time and gentle support. He is like a little dog and comes for treats and even sits with the others!

Spade the cat is a neutered male, who is roughly about a year old. He weighs about 9 and a half pounds and is litter trained. His rescuer feels that he would be better suited to a home with children who are over 10 years old as this boy has quite a fearless nature and is no push over. Spade has been an outside cat for most of his life and now is seeking an indoor only home. He is very friendly with people, and bonds well. He is quite cuddly and even gets along with most dogs, but does not appear to like other cats very much, so he would like a home where he can be the only feline for miles. Spade is young and big and playful and goofy! He likes to fight with himself in the mirror as this picture shows! If you can offer this boy a home, please contact us at GSDRescue@shaw.ca and we will put you in touch with is foster home.
