Zoey is currently in our boarding kennels, and we will start to work her slowly over the next several days. Right now, she is working on just settling in and getting used to new people, new smells, a new diet and the quiet around her. She has a powerful bark and is not afraid to use it to it's full capacity when she wants to alert us to anything she thinks is alert worthy! This includes, blowing leaves, a farmer and his dog 20 miles away, and just her basic needs that need to be met in a more timely manner than she thinks we are delivering. When the train goes by a few miles away and blows it's horn, Zoey takes that as a challenge on who can be louder, and she usually wins!
January ~ Update Zoey has been doing really well these past few weeks. She has met several dogs and done well for the most part. She is still inappropriate in her play, but takes it as good as she gives it. She is a busy little bee and always on the go! There is no doubt about it - Zoey is a LOT of dog, and needs to be tired out on a regular basis. The older, more settled dogs around here, avoid Zoey like the plaque, but the younger ones with more energy play well with her and help us to burn off some of her energy! Once Zoey is a little more relaxed (hahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) we can do a bit of obedience work with her, but keeping her attention for anything more than a millisecond is still a work in progress ;) Zoey really is a great dog. She steals your heart from the moment you meet her. However, she does need a home that is seriously active, patient, and has clear rules for her to follow. Here are a few pictures of Zoey and her new friends for you to enjoy!

Zoey is a PB, spayed female who is around 7 - 8 months of
age.
Zoey has just arrived into our care on December 20th and is working on settling in to her new environment. While cute as a button, she is a going concern! This girl needs a job and would be an amazing companion for a runner or someone who has a huge interest in agility or competitive obedience. She will settle out more, but don't mistake her for any couch potato! No thank you, Zoey needs her mind and body worked and one or two walks a day are not going to be enough for this looker ;) Zoey is going to need a lot of training and focus. She is a handful - but is sweet and loving at the same time with people. Currently, Zoey is not very nice to other dogs, but this is due to lack of socialization and being chained up in a yard her whole little life. She means what she says, and she's not afraid to deliver on it either. Awww Zoey... we'll show you the way, and once you have friends, you will be amazed at how much fun life can be!
At this point, Zoey would LOVE to be in that one-in-a-million dog savvy, breed experienced foster or adoptive home that will show her how to use manners. She is not for the pushover, or weak at heart. She needs a firm hand, an active lifestyle and a ton of training and socialization. Sounds like a dream, doesn't she? haha. For the right person, she is going to be. She is a project for sure, but the bond you will get from a dog like this is amazing! Show her the way, and you'll steal her heart for life. Zoey is a soft girl with a hard exterior and she is looking for a solid gold home! Until then, she will stay with us, and we will work her through her issues and get her ready to meet the world she's never seen. So stay tuned to see Zoey's progress, as she learns what it's all about, and even starts to like it! **We feed a raw diet to our rescues. This cuts down on the amount of medical attention they need, as well as makes them all around healthier. The cost to feed one dog for one month is roughly 102.08 **If you are able to buy one months worth for one dog, it would greatly lessen the load. Please specify which dog it is that you would like to feed, and we will show your pledge on each dog's page. This special sponsorship is called "Foster Partner in Care" and simply means that you are part of the foster program for the dog of your choice. One home supplies the shelter, and the other supplies the food. Many people want to help, but have no room in their homes to do so. This is the perfect way to be involved with the animal of your choice and be updated regularly on their care and well being. It's a win-win for everyone, especially the dogs!
